Bright Realty's Castle Hills Village Shops continued to grow in 2018, adding several high-profile destinations as well as maintaining a variety of retailers that benefit Castle Hills and the surrounding community. The Village Shops, located on King Arthur Blvd. and Lady of the Lake Blvd. in the master-planned Castle Hills community, offers a total of 142,234 square feet of retail, restaurant and office space in its five phases. It also offers residential opportunities including condominiums over retail and townhomes overlooking Lake Avalon.
"In 2018 at the Village Shops, we closed seven new leases and renewed five leases, all a good mix of office, retail and neighborhood conveniences," said Lucas Patterson, executive vice president. "With leases pending on two retail spaces, there is only 873 square feet of retail available at the shops. We also are down to only two available executive office suites and 5,683 square feet of office space that is currently occupied, but available."
New retailers that have opened in 2018 include The London Baker, which has been featured on two Food Network series since joining the Village Shops in early 2018. The Salty Cow also opened in early 2018 and offers both local and imported cheeses and meats as well as provisions like artisan chocolates, jams and jellies. Ramen Izakaya Akira recently opened and serves traditional Japanese ramen dishes. The Grind Burger Bar & Tap Room is also slated to open late 2018.
New neighborhood conveniences include The Art of Handsome, a barbershop offering haircuts and beard trims. Brazilian Tan signed in October 2018 and American Pup Culture, a popular pet grooming location, renewed in summer 2018. Design Time, an art studio offering lessons, workshops and events like parent's night out, opened in 2018, as well.
The non-profit Cleaning for a Reason also signed with the Village Shops in 2018. It offers free house cleaning services to women throughout the United States and Canada who are undergoing treatment for any type of cancer. The service allows women to focus on their health and treatment while their homes are cleaned free of charge. ESP Holdings and JP & Associates opened executive suites at the shops.
"One of the draws for tenants is the built-in customer base living in Castle Hills," said Patterson. "Castle Hills has more than 15,000 residents in its single-family homes alone, as well as several thousand at its luxury multi-family, Discovery at The Realm. When construction is complete on The Realm at Castle Hills, that multi-use project will bring even more potential customers to the community."
The newest retailers at the Village Shops join several established neighborhood conveniences and popular destinations such as TKO Libations, a neighborhood craft brewery; PI.E 31.4, popular for its signature pizzas; and T.B.D Kitchen, a great place for street tacos. Other eateries include Kanzi Sushi & Hibachi, Z's Wok, FroYo Smoo-licious and Sophia's Kitchen. Neighborhood conveniences include hair and nail salons, a pet boutique, dry cleaner, tailor, convenience store, beer & liquor store, professional photographer, tutoring center, as well as dental, chiropractic and orthodontic practices and dance, music and taekwondo studios.
